March 19th is the first day of spring, and this is the perfect time to give your marketing messages a spring cleaning. Unlike a deep clean of your home, reviewing your marketing doesn’t have to take a lot of time – it’s an easy task that can help identify areas that need attention.

Here’s our Marketing Spring Cleaning Checklist:

  • Check the navigation, text and button links on your website to confirm they work as intended.
  • Review the product and service pages on your website – do they still accurately reflect the work you do?
  • Make sure your business hours are up-to-date on your website, social media profiles, Google Business listing and other online directories you manage.
  • Similar to the hours task – make sure your business address(es) are correct.
  • Confirm that the correct version of your logo is used on your website, social platforms, Google Business, email marketing headers, email signatures, and electronic templates such as invoices, statements, and letterhead.
  • If you use dynamic phone number insertion or tracking phone numbers, call to make sure the numbers are forwarding appropriately.
  • Listen to after-hours, on-hold, and voicemail messages to ensure they accurately reflect your business’ hours, locations, etc.

You will likely think of a few other items to check as well, depending on your business and industry. One pro tip – you don’t have to do all the spring cleaning yourself. Many of these tasks can be assigned to team members, using a shared document to collect the feedback.

Spending an hour or two reviewing your marketing presence is a simple way to ensure that your customers and prospects have the best possible experience with your business before they even pick up the phone or walk in the front door.
