Yes, it is Monday. The day that many of us dread as we anticipate the workload that was left behind as we headed home on Friday afternoon. This is the day that gets a bad rap all week long.

We have some great news!  Monday can become one of the most positive and productive days of the week AND you can stop dreading it in an instant. Take a look at these four tips that will help you turn that frown upside down for the week ahead.

1. “Swallow the Frog”

This phrase encompassed one of Phil Rea’s beliefs for achieving success at anything you do in life. We all have those things on our “to do” list that we dread doing. It’s human nature to do the tasks that you enjoy immediately and hold the less than desirable items until the very last minute. Why don’t you choose to “swallow the frog” and tackle that dreaded task first thing on a Monday. By doing this you will feel a weight lift off of your shoulders and you can move on to those things that you love to do! In most cases you will find that once you have tackled the task, it wasn’t as bad you expected it to be.

2. Get Rid of the Clutter

During a work week it is common to accumulate stacks of work-related materials on your desk, file baskets filled with orders that need to be reviewed, and an in box that is overflowing with unread emails. Clutter can be a huge mental obstacle and your worst enemy on a Monday morning. You must do something about it immediately. Make it a routine to focus on the areas of clutter that create the greatest distraction, set a time limit and dig in. Organize your files, arrange your materials, file your emails. When this is done you will feel more prepared and less overwhelmed.

3. Yearn to Learn

No matter how skilled you are at your job, doing the same thing day in and day out without dynamic intellectual stimulation can dull your senses and make you feel unfulfilled. Start a new book, sign up for a webinar, or even take a few minutes out of the workday to complete a word or puzzle game on your smart phone.

4. Schedule Your Reward

Plan to do something nice for yourself. Mark it on your calendar and stick to it just like you would any other appointment. Whether it’s a visit with an old friend, a midday run or finally trying that new restaurant for lunch, a little reward goes a long way.

We hope that these tips will not only make the start of every week more pleasant, but also motivate you to share this great news with those around you. From all of us here at R2R Marketing, may you have a Happy Monday!
